WORLD FIT Overview
World Fit seeks to curtail the epidemic of childhood obesity and create a "culture of fitness" with kids fitness programs and childhood obesity programs for middle school students utilizing Olympians and Paralympians as inspirational leaders.
World Fit partners middle school students nationwide with Olympic athletes to encourage physical fitness and to impart Olympic values of excellence, friendship, fair play and respect. The program seeks to leverage the motivation, discipline and indomitable spirit of Olympians and Paralympians to promote change and counter the culture of obesity, which is devastating American children, families and communities. Currently 7,000 students are participating. In 2011, World Fit is aiming for 50,000 students.
World Fit supports the Michelle Obama childhood obesity awareness campaign through promoting school fitness programs and childhood obesity programs that promote kids fitness programs. World Fit supports the presidential physical fitness standards through an official partnership with the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.
