Tiny Loving Canines Overview

Tiny Loving Canines (TLC) is a non-profit rescue dedicated to lowering the kill rates of small dog breeds, with the vision of No-Kill in Ventura County. TLC operates Ventura County's first and only full-time Rescue Shop, fueled by the passion of saving lives and run by the hard work and dedication of volunteers. TLC's Rescue Shop is located in the Simi Valley Town Center, and is open to the public every day of the week to maximize pet adoptions. Each adoption allows us the space and funds to rescue another animal, thus providing relief to the over-crowded shelter system. In general, TLC functions as a safety net, rescuing those most at risk for being euthanized. In addition to offering pet adoptions, we also provide pet licensing for the County of Ventura, have a pet library and resource center, and are launching "Microchip Mondays", a program to offer low-cost microchipping - all so that lost pets have a better chance of getting home. TLC is not just a rescue, we offer preventative services to ensure that pets never end up in the shelter to begin with. Since TLC started in June 2009, we have grown from a group of just 5 volunteers with a dream (and a couple of foster dogs) to a dynamic engine of over 20 volunteers that have, to date, saved over 1575 dogs and puppies from dying an unnecessary death in the shelter. We have always been the little rescue that could, and we continue to have big aspirations. Our next goal is to create a Rescue Center in our hometown of Simi Valley. Our dreams are huge, but our volunteers are dedicated, motivated, and committed. The only thing stopping TLC is lack of space. While we are tremendously grateful for our space at the Simi Valley Town Center, we simply do not have the square footage to roll out the programs that would bring life the Rescue Center of Simi Valley. But we will one day!
