Pebble Grey was born in 2008, during Director Helena Sheldrake’s summer holiday. Having finished college Helena wanted to earn some money to go away with her boyfriend before starting university. She began to sell bathroom mirrors via eBay and quickly got the bug! She loved the thrill of buying and selling so much that she postponed university for a year in order to build up a reserve of money to see her through uni life. After a research trip to China with boyfriend Mike, Director of kitchen lighting company Sensio, Helena officially registered Pebble Grey in late 2008. From there she began to move away from eBay and invest time and money into building a website and brand. When the time came around again to make the decision about university, Helena opted for an Open University degree in Business Studies with Economics, so she could continue to grow Pebble Grey whilst studying. By February 2010 Helena had employed her first member of staff and a year later the company had grown to a four-man team, moved into their first proper premises and was exhibiting at the industry-leading Grand Designs Live show in London. 2013 has seen further success for Pebble Grey. In July the team moved into new, bigger premises to cope with demand, alongside family-owned, furniture lighting solutions company, Sensio. Pebble Grey's branding and website has also had an overhaul, making buying via the website much easier. And the company is on target to reach a projected turnover of £2m by year-end.
