Nile Breweries Limited was started in 1951 by a group of businessmen associated with the construction of Owen Falls Dam at the Source of River Nile in Uganda, most prominent the Madhvani family. In 2001 it was acquired by SABMiller plc. Today NBL is a proud part of the ABInBev family after the successful completion of the business combination with SABMiller plc in 2016.
