Illinois Department Of Employment Security Overview

The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) is the state’s employment agency. It engages workers and business owners to strengthen the Illinois economy. It is federally funded. IDES considers three goals when evaluating opportunities that touch the state’s 6.6 million workers and 390,000 businesses: assist families in difficult times, help businesses grow and prosper, and advocate for taxpayers by guarding against waste, fraud and abuse. IDES is most often recognized for its re-employment services and business services, its administration of the unemployment insurance program, and its economic analysis.
