Overview
Hiyacar is a UK peer to peer car sharing platform that helps communities live smarter, happier, healthier and wealthier. Car owners make money by sharing their cars and drivers have a new way to get around without having to own a car. We believe that sharing cars keep communities moving, when we share more, everyone wins.
Our mission is to see a world where communities have the freedom to lead a better life by car sharing and is aiming to be the world’s largest peer to peer community.
Hiyacar was founded in 2015 by longtime sharing and car fans, Graeme Risby and Rob Larmour. We have a growing team of practical revolutionaries who are passionate about helping our members. No matter what time of day, one of our community team will be there to help. Supported by two crowdfunding campaigns, Hiyacar launched in 2016 and recent milestones include:
- Backing from multiple leading investors including the founders of Photobox in October 2016
- Creating a community of nearly 60,000 members nationwide of which two thirds is in London
- Joining leading companies such as AirBnB in being awarded the Trust Seal by SEUK, underlining Hiyacar's credibility and standing in the sharing economy
- Launching QuickStart, the UK’s first P2P keyless tech solution – allowing cars to be unlocked and started via smartphone providing even simpler, securer car sharing in late June 2017
- Launching the first B2B peer to peer solution in the UK with Adur & Worthing Council, saving the community money and reducing local car numbers
