Broken English Overview
Shop fine jewelry, vintage accessories, and luxury home decor thoughtfully curated for every occasion. Find collections from over 100 of the world's leading designers, including Anita Ko.
Broken English is synonymous with the laid-back luxury that defines how women wear their jewelry today. Established in 2006 by owner Laura Freedman, the brand's three boutiques offer its faithful clientele a thoughtfully curated mix of contemporary and vintage jewelry in effortlessly chic, intimate surroundings. It didn't take long for the original boutique, which opened in Los Angeles’ California-luxe Brentwood Country Mart, to establish a faithful following among discerning shoppers who appreciated its welcoming, no-pressure environment and an unparalleled selection of designers. Broken English showcases jewels that set trends and reach far beyond them among luxurious, carefully considered surroundings. Whether it be delicate, everyday pieces by Anita Ko, Jennifer Meyer, and Foundrae, or bold statement jewels from Silvia Furmanovich, Broken English has something for every woman and every occasion.
The brand's East Coast store opened in the heart of SoHo in New York in 2014, seamlessly extending Broken English's unique take on fine jewelry to the urban environment. In Lido Marina Village, Newport Beach, California, its latest store opened in April 2017 (now closed permanently). With the Pacific Ocean lapping at its door, this beach-chic destination sees Laura bringing her discerning eye to homeware for the first time, with a mix of contemporary brassware and ceramics as well as rare antique and vintage finds from the likes of Hermès. "Just as with jewelry, it’s important to have beautiful objects in your home that you can pass down from generation to generation,” she says. Two things unite each store and define Broken English's enduring success: a commitment to exceptional customer service and supporting the world's leading designers’ artistry and craftsmanship.
