Overview

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City has served as a leader in youth development programming and advocacy efforts for urban youth for more than a century. The Clubs provide access to life-changing programs, resources, opportunities and experiences in safe, secure environments to the young people who need us the most on a daily basis. Nearly 1,000 young people walk through our of our five Club sites every day and we serve nearly 8,000 unduplicated members annually. The Clubs are truly a beacon of hope in some of our community’s toughest neighborhoods. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City is to promote the development of self-esteem, values, and skills for boys and girls, ages 5-18, with special emphasis on youth from disadvantaged circumstances. The vision of the organization is to be the leader in providing developmental opportunities for significant numbers of youth. Our strategic vision is to assist Kansas City’s children and youth to live out their greatest dreams through the development of skills and competencies and keep 100% of active Club members on track for high school graduation with post-secondary plans. In order to achieve this vision, we have established a comprehensive, year-round educational focus for our programming. The blueprint we’ve created allows for all of our programmatic endeavors to build off one another in a specific, intentional manner. This Whole Child organizational approach enables us to support and supplement educational enrichment activities while also building life skills in more traditional youth development frameworks. Youth development programming offered by the Clubs fits within four core areas: Healthy Lifestyles, Education & Careers, Technology, and Public Speaking & Leadership.
